How does WhoCanDo work?
Step 1 - Post a job: advertise the work you need done Jane would like to get her bathroom tiled. She visits an exclusive Italian tile shop where she finds the perfect tiles. However, she is not happy wth the quote of $1500 she receives to lay the tiles from the tiler recommended by the tile shop. Jane remembers something one of her friends said about "competitive tradesmen on the Internet". She turns on her computer and surfs WhoCanDo. She registers as a WhoCanDo Member and places a detailed description of her project with a photo under the category "Building & Renovation/.../ Tiling & Tile Repairs". Jane appreciates that there is no risk for her – posting a job is free of charge, she can reject all bids if she doesn’t like any, and she doesn’t have to invite tradesmen she has never met before into her house. Jane can now sit back and wait for tradesmen to quote on the job without the hassle of wasting time on finding them and chasing them to get a quote.... Step 2 - Get quotes: watch as people bid for your work Bill of Acme is a professional tiler and bathroom renovator and member of the Housing Industry Association (HIA). He already registered his business with WhoCanDo. He set up WhoCanDo’s Job Agent to receive notifications whenever there are relevant jobs in his area to get new customers and to remain fully booked without having to spend money on advertising or spending his evenings writing quotes. Visiting WhoCanDo, Bill discovers Jane's job post. The job sounds interesting; Jane lives within his post code range and he can easily undercut the indicated maximum price of $1500. Bill uses the WhoCanDo message system to write a note to Jane, as he has a question about the grouting colour. Jane answers Bill's question. Bill decides to bid on the auction and enters his price of $900. Step 3 - Save time and money: choose your favourite supplier and quote Jane receives an e-mail from WhoCanDo that a bid was made on her job. Meanwhile, several other tilers have also placed a bid on the job. Bill's bid stands out since Jane can see from his profile that Bill is a licensed tiler who has relevant insurance and already earned five positive evaluations. Jane also appreciates that the profile states that Bill and his staff are all non-smokers. The job auction goes into the final 'sprint'. Bill enters his 'best price' - $850. Nevertheless, another supplier undercuts his bid - the auction ends at $770. At the end of the auction, Jane receives a list of all the suppliers who participated. From this list she can select the tiler best suited to her needs; she doesn't have to take the cheapest. Jane decides on Bill because he has a good (WhoCanDo) reputation and is available at short notice. She confirms her selection on WhoCanDo and agrees on a date for the work to be completed. Bill is now happy to pay the small, percentage-based success fee to WhoCanDo for winning the new contract. After the work is completed - Provide feedback and build a reputation Jane now has a newly tiled bathroom. The tiler, Bill, finishes and gets a positive evaluation for his work from Jane. In this way, future clients will be able to see that Bill is a reliable tradesperson. Jane settles her account immediately and likewise gets a positive evaluation from Bill. Future suppliers will also know that Jane is a reliable client. Jane saved a great deal of money and time. She plans to use WhoCanDo again in the future. Bill is also happy - he has already potential follow-on work with Jane.
